Happy Friday, Friends!
Today we are talking about 3 tips for including your furry friend during your engagement session! One of our most frequent questions is about bringing pets along and we always say, “of course!” We know how important pets are… to most, they are not just pets. They are family, so we ALWAYS encourage bringing your pets during your engagement sessions!
#1. Bring them for only Part of the Session!
This is more of a requirement than a tip 😉 We suggest bringing your pet either the first 30 minutes of your session, or the last 30 minutes! We of course allow pets to come along, but it’s important that there’s some time to focus on just the two of you, sans fluffy! There’s a few reasons for this! It definitely increases stress level having your pet there. Even if you have the most well behaved dog in the world, chances are, they will act out! When that happens, a lot of the attention is put on the pet, and not the couple! That brings us to to tip #2….
#2. Have someone else bring your pet and be in charge of them!
Whether it’s a family member, friend, or your dog walker, we ask that you have someone else be in charge of transporting your pet to and from the session! This will alleviate a lot of stress for you! You won’t have to worry about getting covered in pet hair in the car, and then you won’t have to worry about getting them back home after their 15 minutes of fame 😉
#3. Bring along some treats!
If we have learned one thing about pets and photographs it’s that there’s one magic word… “Treat!” We think a little bribery goes a long way with pets and trust us, it’s worth it to have them on their best behavior for your pictures! You should also consider bringing along some *ahem* doggy doo doo bags. Nothing worse than leaving that behind for someone else to find!
We hope these tips are helpful for you in planning your dream engagement session!
