Ok, right now, prepare yourselves because this post is going to be a good, long one! Amisha & Colin’s wedding was something we had never seen before. Mostly because it was a traditional Indian/Christian wedding so naturally it took 3 days. Yes, 3 days! It was freaking Awesome! We met Amisha a while ago at a wedding we shot. Amisha was a bridesmaid, the wedding was on a Saturday and Amisha emailed us on that Monday wanting to book us. We are so stinking glad she did!
This wedding had four parts, A Mehndi, Pithi, a tradition Hindu wedding ceremony and a traditional Christian ceremony. For the Hindu ceremony, Colin rode in on a big white horse, that is by far the most ballin thing I’ve ever seen at a wedding and he had some dance moves that didn’t disappoint as well. Kathryn spent about 3 months in India and she loves the Indian Culture and people. This wedding was full of just that. The culture and and colors were INCREDIBLE and vibrant and by the end of the 3 days, we seriously felt like family. I am pretty sure the videographer got some sweet footage of me dancing with everyone a couple of times. I have to give a major #Respect to Amisha for allowing us to do some crazy things during this wedding. Over and over she probably hear me say “just trust me, its gonna be AWESOME!” Thankfully she did, and I think the result was just that, Awesome! But you can be the judge.
Now, sit back and enjoy all 103 images… thats right.. 103! It was 3 days, what do you expect!
This was the Mehndi. This was a time for family and friends to get together, hang out, dance and get the henna applied to their hands!
In the Pithi Ceremony Amisha & Colin were rubbed with a chickpea flour and turmeric based paste called pithi. This is for good luck and for beautification before the wedding. It was a lot of fun to watch!
Now, onto the Hindu & Christian Ceremony. They were BEAUTIFUL!
As Colin rides in on the horse, its like a big party. Its pretty legit! Everyone dances their way to the ceremony location with a couple of dancing stops in between. Just because!
A little context here. Colin doesn’t actually see Amisha walk down the aisle like in most Christian weddings. He waits until she sits in the chair right across from him on the other side of the curtain. Once they drop the curtain then he finally sees her!
This his hilarious. Colin actually has give money to Amisha’s brother and Uncle before he can marry her. It was hilarious!
Cue Christian ceremony and prep.
