Behind The Veil
This is the beginning of a new series we’re calling Behind The Veil, where we show you sneak peeks into our life! We wanted to start off sharing a little about why we chose to be wedding photographers (even though many days we feel like wedding photography chose us!)
In the beginning
To give a little background, Devin bought a camera the day we met – weird, right?! – and started snapping pictures. Fast forward to the summer of 2012 when Devin shot his very first wedding. by himself. with no experience. If you know anything about Devin, he gets passionate about things very quickly. Photography was no different! He was shooting anything and everything he could, so after we got married, we decided that it might be fun if I went along to some sessions with him! Anchor & Veil Photography was born soon after that.
Why Photography?
We never imagined this would be our full time job, but 3 years later, here we are! So, why do we love wedding photography? We love LOVE. We love being able to provide memories for couples of where their marriage journey began, the way they felt when saying “I do,” or remembering the sweet words of a friend’s toast to their new life together. We want people to look at their pictures and remember the good times they had. The funny moments. The first dance.
But more than anything, we want them to remember the love. We want them to remember not just that they got married, but why they got married. Why they chose one another to spend the rest of their life with.
Why “Anchor & Veil?”
A lot of people ask us how we came up with our name “Anchor & Veil.” The name comes from one of our favorite Bible verses, Hebrews 6:19-20. This verse talks about how Christ is the anchor for our lives, which includes our business!
