There wasn't a "born with a camera in my hand" story! I bought it to make videos.
Just kidding! Devin loved the tacos and said he could never be with a girl like Kathryn.. Jokes on Him!
Devin carved "Marry Me" into a pumpkin and dropped on one knee.

Devin married way up!
We used a Rebel (entry level DSLR) and borrowed gear from friends. We only shot two more of our own that year.
Started teaching and working at a corporate job while trying to juggle a now growing business.

where we cover tips, tricks, and giggles
We love to educate other photographers with tools and processes we've learned along the way.
Neither of us ever started out with a camera in our hand. We love photographers that have an amazing history with cameras and photography, but that isn't our story. I (Devin) bought my first camera in 2010, I have never taken a formal photography class. Everything I learned was either from either youtube, online education websites or old fashion trial and error. What makes education so important is learning from the mistakes others have made because:
Those are words we have lived by! We have made investing into education a big part of our business and it is by far the main reason why we have grown the way that we have and become as successful as we are. There is a sense of humility that is absolutely necessary to be successful because success is always accompanied with failure and perseverance! We quickly learned that we couldn't find OUR VOICE by just copying others and that we couldn't do this alone! We sought out mentors in the industry that pushed us in directions we had never thought of but quickly became the catalyst for us become US in this industry.
This quickly catapulted us and our business. I began to go to workshops, second shoot and have monthly mentoring meetings with photographers and the impact was easily quantifiable.
- 2012 - July, Shot 1 wedding for $500
- 2013 - Shot 3 of our own weddings, made $4.5K all year! Second shot 8 times
- 2014 - Shot 10 of our own weddings average $2.25K per wedding, Second shot 3 times
- 2015 - Shot 25 Weddings average $3.75K per wedding
- 2016 - Shot 30 Weddings, average $4.5K per wedding
- 2017 - Booked 35 weddings before Jan 2017, average between 5.5-6K per wedding.
I don't say this to show off, but to show that growth is possible, and that investing into our education was the most influential thing to our success! We were able to not only grow as artists but business people. We grew to learn and love our vision, stand out from the crowd and build a business that we were proud of!
I literally don't know where I'd be without you guys. You helped me streamline my business in a way that gives me more time to focus on growing my business and time for more important things like friends and family. I was such a mess before you guys helped me get organized, and I could not be more grateful for your giving hearts. You guys are such a blessing.
A while ago we lost all of our photos and they saved the day. I had no clue what to do when at 10 at night I walked in to the living room and Kelly was crying. You guys invited us into your home at 10:30 in all our pjs and helped us get it all situated. We got all the photos we needed, were able to get them to the clients, and now have a system to make sure that never happens again! You guys are amazing, and I'm very thankful to have you guys as friends and mentors!
You mentioned one thing to do after every session that I blog. I now include that when I send out that email and it is AMAZING! The amount of engagement on my site has skyrocketed and it's helped my SEO & Exposure!
